What do I get when I buy Cogir USA's art glass block?

You get the same high-quality Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block® that your contractor would use when installing un-decorated glass block. Your art design will be real colored glass fused to the original glass block by re-firing in a kiln, not a painted on or etched design.

This glass fusion art block has been tested by Pittsburgh Corning and passes their rigorous standards, meaning your art glass block has the same specifications as the un-decorated Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block®.

The artistic design will be applied to the block by hand by our skilled artisans. It will truly be a unique work of art!

How are the blocks installed?

The glass blocks can be installed traditionally with mortar or with a silicone system. The decorated blocks can be installed indoors or outdoors with no worries about fading or damage.

What block sizes are available?

The standard block size is Pittsburgh Corning Decora® 8" x 8", either 4" or 3" thickness. Also available are 12" x 12", 6" x 6" and 4" x 8" as well as specialty pieces such as corners, banks and Vistabrik®. We decorate any size, any pattern, any thickness and any shape of Pittsburgh Corning glass block®.

Will this art glass block's design fade over time?

No! This design is made of real colored glass and will not fade even in direct sunlight. The color is actually part of the glass' chemical composition and does not change over time.

Do I need special cleaners to maintain my art glass block?

No, you do not need anything special to maintain your glass design. Since the design is made of real glass, you maintain it just like any other glass product. A little glass cleaner is all you need to keep your art glass looking like new.

Can Cogir USA apply a design to existing block?

No. The blocks must be decorated and then fired in a kiln to fuse the design to the glass.

Does my contractor need anything special to install this art glass block?

Not at all! Our artistically decorated glass blocks install just like un-decorated glass blocks. We even deliver the blocks with a protective film over the glass design to make it easy for the installer to mortar the blocks without worrying about getting the mortar in the design.

What if some mortar gets into the design during installation? Will that ruin the glass blocks?

Not to worry! It's not uncommon for some mortar to get into the texture of the glass design during installation, and is easily removed during the mortaring process. Sometimes a small amount of mortar, or a haze may be left behind after the mortar is cleaned up. Generally, all that's needed is a little white vinegar to clean it out if any is left behind after the installation.

How long will it take after Cogir receives my order until the glass blocks are shipped?
